Varlion Bourne Prisma Summum W 2022

Our verdict and review for the Varlion Bourne Prisma Summum W 2022 after testing the racket is that it is an awesome racket for the offensive player who is at an intermediate – advanced level. Our opinion after testing the Varlion Bourne Prisma Summum W 2022:

The Bourne Prisma Summum 2022 is a hybrid rack format, but also a hybrid between a drop/diamond shape, which makes the racket a bit more offensively scored in comparison to the Maxima Summum Prisma. This model also has the slightly longer handle, the longer face and the patterned face for more grip and spin. Thanks to the stiff hitting surface and harder core, this rack is best suited for the slightly faster game. A rack that is highly recommended to the player on the backhand side who has his strengths in the overhead game.

The balance

The balance is placed at medium level, to give it a bit of all-round feel. In particular, it is strongest in offensive play, but with a medium balance it can also provide more help with low or slow balls.

Racket shape

The rack shape is a hybrid between drop-shaped and diamond-shaped, and the shape will be shaped like a prism. Which Varlion’s research and testing has shown, should provide 10% less drag. So it will be lighter in the swing, giving better power in the strokes and less strain on the player’s wrist.

Hard or soft?

A hard package with carbon fibre in both frame and hitting surface and a hard core. A hybrid racket that has strong characteristics for the offensive game.

What level of player is the Varlion Bourne Prisma Summum W 2022 suitable for?

This model from Varlion can provide several advantages for players who are moving up to a higher level. However, it is good if the player has worked several techniques into their padel game and has good muscle and joint strength. It is a racket that lends itself well to a game with a lot of speed, power and explosiveness.

Is the racket best suited for offensive or defensive play?

A hard racket that provides several strengths in offensive play. Hard frame, hitting surface and core that can contribute to a lot of speed and power in the strokes. Combined with the hard characteristics of the racket, the balance can be set high enough to succeed with solid smashes.

Information about the Varlion brand

Varlion started in Argentina, with their first finished racket in 1995, but they moved their production to Spain shortly after their sales started in Spain. At that time, they also started to develop more complex features for their rackets.

Some of their special features you can see on their latest models are the technique of the placement of the holes and that the outer holes are bigger than the inner holes. This technique gives a bigger sweetspot and more balance in the racket.

Varlion is also launching several models that have a longer handle, to facilitate players who like two-handed grips, and a longer hitting surface that also facilitates a larger sweetspot and more good hits during play.

Benefits of Varlion Bourne Prisma Summum W 2022

A powerhouse in the offensive game with strong carbon fibre in the frame and hitting surface. The racquet shape is more like a prism, giving 10% less drag and a larger sweetspot. A larger sweetspot is also created by the 1 cm longer face and the holes positioned further out towards the frame. It also provides more balance in the racket and in the game. The frame has also been fitted with Prisma Bumper to protect against impact.

A longer grip on the handle makes it easier for players who like a two-handed grip and there is a pattern on the hitting surface that provides support for spinning to the balls.

Disadvantages

Depending on the chosen materials and other characteristics of the rack, the temperature can have a great impact on the rack. This racket is not as strong where the temperature exceeds 25 degrees. In addition, it is a hard package made of carbon fiber and with a hard core, so it may require more strength from the player to put too much strain on their wrist and elbow.

Our review for Varlion Bourne Prisma Summum W 2022

Mikael Rohana from Elitepadel has tested the Varlion Bourne Prisma Summum W 2022 and gives the following review and rating:

My opinion after testing the Varlion Bourne Prisma Summum W 2022 is that it is an offensive framed racket but also with some defensive qualities, which thanks to the name “Summum” also comes with some different characteristics than the other Varlion rackets. Some of them are that the racket has a slightly longer handle which then suits perfectly for the player who likes to hit a double-fisted backhand, a slightly longer hitting surface as well as a grooved surface that should generate good grip and spin in the ball. An offensive rack mainly aimed at the player who has his strengths in the overhead game“.
