Our opinion after testing the Varlion Avant Difusor Carbon Black 2022:

This rack is the drop-shaped model in the Carbon Black series and is aimed at the more offensive player type. However, I found that the characteristics of the racket were also very comfortable even in the offensive game and I felt, despite the hybrid shape, that the racket had a fairly large sweetspot and it was quite easy to get right to the ball. A racket well designed for the player looking for a good mix of speed and control.

Material

The frame is made of 100% carbon fibre, which makes the racket more qualitative and durable. To make the racket a bit softer, it got a medium-hard core and a double-layer hitting surface made of fiberglass. A more durable racket that doesn’t get too hard.

The balance

The balance is at a medium level, so this drop-shaped racket can be utilized more as an all-around racket. Becomes good help both with the low balls, but also when you need to rush towards the net and for example shoot away high balls with proper power.

Racket shape

A drop-shaped racket that provides a larger sweetspot because of the shape and with their own technique of having different sized holes further out towards the frame. As the outermost holes are placed closer to the frame, the player will get better support when the balls end up too far out on the racket. There will be more control in the strokes, while at the same time it will be relieving for the player’s muscles and joints.

Hard or soft?

It’s a medium-hard racket, as it’s more of an all-round racket. Taking into account its drop shape, medium balance, larger sweetspot as well as the fact that they have combined a medium hard core with carbon fiber in the frame.

Information about the Varlion brand

Varlion was founded in 1993 and two years later they launched their first padel racket, which had been produced in Argentina. When they started to launch rackets on the Spanish market, they decided to move the factory to Spain. And shortly afterwards they started to use more complicated techniques.

Some techniques are that the holes on the racket are created during the manufacturing process and that they are placed further out towards the frame.

Which gives more balance in the racket when balls come too far out towards the frame. On some later models, the holes at the far end are larger and in a rectangular shape, making it easier to swing in the air.

Advantages of Varlion Avant Difusor Carbon Black 2022

It is a durable racket in carbon fiber and fiberglass, and can be an advantage with the characteristics of being an all-round racket. Also an advantage with technology in how they place the holes and that they sit further out on the frame, as this gives more balance in the racket when the balls come further out on the racket.

Disadvantages

Can be more difficult to use for aggressive play, when you want to smash the opponents. As the core is medium hard and the balance is medium. It requires more strength and experience from the player to be well helped in the explosive play.
