Our verdict and review for the Varlion LW Summum Carbon Black after testing the racket is that it is a very good racket for the all-round player. The large hitting surface, which is also extended by 1cm, helps both beginners up to just above average to play a stable game.

The fiberglass surface gives you soft and fine strokes while the racket’s construction is stiffer and more durable of carbon fiber.

Varlion’s new padel rackets are not only really aesthetically pleasing, they also have a really good quality. The price level is neither the lowest nor the highest compared to competitors.

Our opinion after testing the Varlion LW Summum Carbon Black 2022:

A top-of-the-range Varlion series that will incorporate the best technologies and materials available. When I tested the Varlion LW Summum Carbon Black, I experienced a very good feel and that the racket generated really good speed without compromising on control. The rounded shape and low balance make the racket primarily a bit more defensively oriented, making it well suited to the more advanced player looking for a lot of control.

The balance

The balance is of medium height, so it can provide good support in both offensive and defensive play. It makes it easier to shoot up low balls with power and if the player has good knowledge of the game and good arm strength, it can be sufficient to give high balls both considerable power and speed.

Racket shape

Round shaped racket that has a larger sweet spot, both thanks to the racket shape but also because the hitting surface is 1 cm longer.

Hard or soft?

A medium-hard racket with a medium-hard core, a fibreglass hitting surface and a 100% carbon fibre frame. It is softer in terms of the round racket shape and is stronger in defensive play where a slightly softer racket is needed.

Information about the Varlion brand

The brand Varlion was founded in Argentina in 1993 and two years later their first racket model was released. It was more simply designed than the models they started producing at their factory in Spain, as more unique techniques were then used for the racket.

Among their unique techniques is that their rackets are cast in a mould and the holes are created during the manufacturing process. The holes come in different sizes and are placed further out towards the frame. Some models have only round holes, while some have more unique holes on the outside.

They are larger as the shape is more rectangular. This was designed to give less air resistance to the racket, making it easier to swing in the air. Which in turn also makes it more relieving on the wrist.

Advantages of Varlion LW Summum Carbon Black 2022

A two cm longer hitting area, a cm longer handle and a larger sweetspot are probably the main advantages of this racket. As it will be easier to gain control in the game and also to grasp a two-handed grip. The technology of their holes also creates more balance in the game and a bit easier to swing the racket.

The racket will be extra durable as the frame is made of 100% carbon fiber and in order for the model not to be too stiff, the hitting surface is made of fiberglass.

Disadvantages

May require extra strength and power from the player, as you want to use more power in your strokes. As in strong offensive play such as smashes.
