Micke tests the DoPadel Gemini

Our verdict and review for the DoPadel Gemini after testing the racket is that it is an awesome racket for the offensive player who is at an intermediate – advanced level. This racket also has a hybrid/drop format with a material made in 3K carbon fiber and fiberglass.

DoPadel’s new padel rackets are not only really aesthetically pleasing, they also have a really good quality. The price level is neither the lowest nor the highest compared to competitors.

Our opinion after testing the DoPadel Gemini:

Here is the last new addition to the family and is designed to be the most offensive racket in the series. When I tried this model I found that the racket had a pretty stiff hitting pattern, thanks to the combination of kevlar and carbon fibre in the frame but also that it extracts a very good amount of speed in the overhead game thanks to the 24k hitting surface. What I also found, despite all the offensive benefits, was that the racket also delivered really nice control and precision. So a racket recommended for the more advanced player looking for speed but who also doesn't want to compromise on control.

Material

The DoPadel Gemini has been fitted with materials that make it a very powerful racket. The frame has a mix of carbon fibre and Kevlar, which makes the racket both resilient and rigid. It is more durable in case of foul shots and bumps, while making it easier for the player to fire off balls with real power. The stiffness is enhanced by the 24K carbon fiber hitting surface and the medium-hard Eva Special Dual Core.

Eva Special Dual Core is a two-layer core consisting of Eva Blur Hard and Eva Soft White. This combination of cores gives the player a good sense of control during the game and good strength to fire away powerful balls.

The balance

The medium-high balance point combined with the medium-hard core and a hard carbon fibre hitting surface gives the player good help for power and control. These characteristics together can give players who like aggressive play many advantages during the game.

Racket shape

The hybrid/dropper racket shape gives the player a larger sweetspot and a little more stiffness. Combined with the lack of holes in the middle of the racket, it makes it easier to hit balls with both speed and control.

Hard or soft?

The DoPadel Gemini is the hardest racket from the 2022 range. Featuring a Special Dual Core, which consists of a soft and a hard core, and a hitting surface that is made of 24K carbon fibre. In addition, the frame is constructed from carbon fibre and Kevlar. These choices of materials give players who enjoy offensive play several advantages.

What level of player is DoPadel Gemini suitable for

What level of player is the DoPadel Gemini suitable for?

Taking into account that this racket model has very hard characteristics, it is recommended that players who want to use this racket have longer experience in the game of padel. It may require both good muscular strength in the player and good knowledge in playing technique to get good benefit from DoPadel Gemini.

Although there are some features of a softer nature and the rubber surface minimises vibrations from ball hits, this racket model is recommended for players at a higher level of play.

Is the racket best suited for offensive or defensive play?

This racket model is very suitable for offensive play. It is a hard package with a medium hard core, extra hard hitting surface and a reinforced carbon fibre and kevlar frame. It is extra durable and therefore extra resistant in case of any mis-hits or bumps in the floor or walls. This allows the player to act more daringly and explosively during the game.

Information about the DoPadel brand

Information about the DoPadel brand

Founded in 2021, DoPadel is a brand known for its stylish Scandinavian design, among other things. All racket models are handmade in one of the well-known factories in Spain. DoPadel’s goal is to offer padel players rackets of good quality and with features that can benefit players of different playing levels.

One of the two unique features that all their racket models have been provided with is the way the holes on the racket have been placed. The holes in the middle have been excluded so that the hitting surface provides the same response when hitting the ball, which at the same time creates a larger area for the sweetspot and provides more control for the player.

All racket models have also been fitted with a rubber surface, so that the balls do not come into direct contact with the material of the hitting surface. This makes the racket feel softer and more ergonomic. The player’s muscles and joints are not subjected to as much stress, as the rubber surface minimises vibrations from the ball hits.

Benefits of DoPadel Gemini

As with all other racket models from the DoPadel range, there are two major advantages. One is the rubber surface, which minimises vibration from ball hits, while providing a better grip on the ball and can provide good help for spinning to the balls.

Excluding holes in the centre of the hitting surface provides a more even response to ball hits, which gives both better control during the game and a feeling of a larger sweep spot. This makes it easier for the player to successfully launch balls with good power and control.

Players who prefer an offensive game will benefit greatly from the medium-hard core, 24K carbon fiber hitting surface and reinforced carbon fiber and Kevlar frame. These strong features along with a medium balance point help players play a more explosive game.

Disadvantages

Lower level players or those who prefer a more defensive style of play will not benefit well from this hard racket model. This model is recommended for higher level players looking for a hard racket. Although there are some features that are of a softer nature, it may feel too hard and heavy to handle unless you have good muscle strength and experience.
